It's a new year. A time for positive thinking about the future, spending time with family and being thankful for simply seeing a new year.... and of course resolutions. I was looking at all the resolutions that people have made or will make this year and I couldn't quite put my finger on what I wanted to do this year.

I started thinking about last year. How it felt like I was watching others live a life I wanted. You ever have that 'why not me' thought? (Comparison is bad!) Also thought about how it ended. It wasn't exactly how I planned it, actually it was very far from it and I won't go into it, but it shaped how I'm going to attack 2014.

My Resolution: No Missed Opportunities

It's really as simple as that. As I see how certain things are coming together and others are not, I realize the goal is not to do more, but enjoy more. That is the hardest thing to do in life. Simply enjoy it. The good and the bad. To often we have a checklist of what we want to do throughout the year and use that to define how well a year did or didn't go.

But the most unexpected things can be some of the most wonderful.

Instead of having a checklist of all the things I want to do, I have a blank page ready to filled in and I'm excited about what I see ahead of me.

P.S. Love Does by Bob Goff. Buy it. Read it. Share it. (I want a life of whimsy!)

P.S.S I will also resolve to write more.

P.S.S.S. I also contribute to the Freedom House Interns blog at FHInterns! Check it out!

  1. OK, I don't know where you are located in Charlotte, but if you have free time see if you have any SweetFrog frozen yogurt shops around you. We do FUNraiser/Spirit Nights to raise money for organizations, churches, girl scouts, to help pay for medical treatments ect... They usually work like you pick a night and time frame, advertise it, post flyers, facebook event it and that night you get 20% of sales. Get up with the Manager and see if they can help you raise some money for your Missionary Trip!
